Documentation Tours : Would you like your instrument to appear in the archives?

The bbMIA van: (maybe) coming to your neighborhood soon! [ see the tour schedule ]

What.
We travel all over the country photographing basses, guitars, and related musical instruments. If you have some musical instruments that you'd like to have included at bbMIA, please contact us. We're especially interested in rare, custom, or otherwise unusual instruments, but we also try to document a fair share of 'regular' instruments too. So whether you have 3, 15, or a 100+ instruments, please send us a note, and the next time we're scheduled to be in your area, we'll contact you beforehand. Hopefully we'll be able to arrange a mutually convenient time to meet and photograph your collection. Please send all requests for documentation to our coordination desk at
. You can also e-mail us by using our web form. Please be sure to include the following information:

1. your name.
2. your town/city/state.
3. your e-mail address
4. your telephone number.
5. a list of your instruments (please include a brief description).

Who.

We welcome correspondence from private individuals (collectors, musicians, etc.), institutions and other organizations (museums, libraries, schools, etc.), and even music stores*. Your identity as the owner of the instrument can be included on the instruments' description pages (example: "Collection of Rosanna Arquette"), or not ("Private Collection"). Contact information can also be included or not included, it's up to you.

*note for dealers and music stores: bbMIA is not a dealer of new or used instruments, nor are we a consignment shop. We do not collect a percentage, fee, or any other means of compensation for any sales or other arrangements made between you and our members. bbMIA is an image archive, an informational resource only, and for this reason the criteria as to whether or not any instrument(s) are included in the archives is based on whether or not the archive is enriched with the addition of the instrument(s). If you have any questions about having instruments from your store included at bbMIA, please contact us and we will be happy to discuss it with you.

When.
You can send us a request to document your instrument(s) at any time. Please check the Documentation Tours schedule above for an outline of when/where our van will be going next.

Where.

If you live either in the New York City (NY) area or in the Honolulu (HI) area and have one or more instruments you'd like to have documented and archived in the bbMIA, this can usually be easily arranged. Feel free to contact us. If you live anywhere else in the United States, the bbMIA van's upcoming schedule is posted below - if you have something that you'd like to see included at bbMIA, please feel free to send us an e-mail. If possible, please contact us no later than one month before the tour dates so that we can work together to make the best arrangements.
